A FEW UNIFORM TIPS FOR PARENTS

A little planning makes game days much easier! Students and parents will sign a Uniform Contract with the details, but here are the basics:

  • Capes and marching pants are fitted and assigned to each student, so please help us take good care of them.
  • The marching pants were purchased by the Band + Jazz Boosters and donated to LWHS.
  • Lost or damaged uniform pieces may need to be cleaned, repaired, or replaced at the family’s expense.
  • Help your student take good care of their cape and pants. This means personal hygiene, no perfume, cologne, or scented body spray, and minimal make-up (because it stains the wool collar.) Also -- no eating in the cape.
  • Pants can be washed at home with plain detergent only — no bleach or OxiClean. The Uniform Contract has the full care instructions.

ON GAME DAY

Our favorite band-parent tip: Keep all the uniform pieces together at home to avoid the morning scramble! Here's our Game Day Morning Checklist:

  • Purple uniform T-shirt (core band) or black T-shirt (Drumline)
  • Black marching pants
  • Full-length black socks
  • All-black marching shoes
  • Black long-sleeve thermal layers, if it’s going to be cold
  • Small bag for your phone, keys and other personal items
  • Your cape number memorized

Students can leave their uniform items (pants, shoes, socks, shirt) in their instrument locker during the school day.

From there, the band staff will take over! Students will be told when to change and how to wear their uniform for the performance.
